Encouragement in Your Calling

Hi friends! It has been a long time since I last blogged, but God definitely has brought me through a season of learning and growth this summer, and it has been so great.

Disclaimer: this blog is probably going to be a bunch of random thoughts that have been flying around in my head and all somehow connect together (lol), so I will be praying that it miraculously makes sense to you!

1.) When God places a calling on your life, it will not be an easy journey.  People will be against you.  The devil will use anything He can use to make you feel less-than.  The devil will try to make you fall into the lies of this world.  There will be times when your fear gets the best of you.  You will get overwhelmed.  Sin will creep into your heart when you are at your weakest moment.  You will feel defeated, exhausted, and lonely.

I have felt that.  I feel it all the time, actually.  There are days when it feels like the things that God has called me too are destroying huge parts of my life.  We all feel that sometimes.

BUT – 2) Jesus already has the victory.  When God places a calling on your life, He promises to walk with you.  He promises to guide you.  He promises to be your friend.  He promises to strengthen you and to hold you up with His right hand.  He promises to fight for you.

You are not alone.  You are not a failure.  You are not a disappointment.

You are a child of God.  You are victorious in His name. You are filled with the same spirit that rose Jesus from the grave.

John 16:33 says, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

When you know the calling that God has placed on your life, the enemy will do anything and everything He can to make you doubt that.  He will use your insecurities and your old struggles to distract you from keeping your eyes on Jesus.

Here is how you fight back:

PRAY like never before.  Declare victory and courage over yourself and your calling. READ and MEMORIZE the Bible.  Speak TRUTH over yourself.  Surround yourself with people who will encourage you, lift you up, and remind you of who YOU TRULY ARE.

Hold onto the truth of the Gospel.  Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”

Jesus has the victory.  He already won.  This too shall pass.  Don’t wish away the hardship, grow through it.

Something that I had to realize is that God takes things away from us to refine and prepare us for the next season.  God knows what we need.  God also knows what we don’t need.  Trust Him with your calling.  He has gotten you this far, don’t give up.  You are not alone.

“For the LORD your God is with you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” Zephaniah 3:17
